Every Wednesday the KKKids run activities for students to participate in. The activities range form maintenance activities such as weeding, and sustainability activities like making paper bricks to sell or catching flies for Tane, to fun activities like building huts. Students from New Entrance up come along and choose activities for the lunchtime. Take a look at some of the fun things they do below.
Verran Primary is a small primary school surrounded by reserves in the middle of Birkenhead. Verran Primary School is an Enviro School - winning the National Green Gold Environmental Award in 2004. Children, Staff, Parents and the local community are working at establishing sustainable systems within the school; children lead this - working in their lunch breaks. Visit to Fern Glen
In September the KKKids walked to Fern Glen. They had a tour around the gardens, partook in an enviro hunt and helped out with some weeding. They even managed to move one of the seats a little further along the pathway after cleaning off their footwear to ensure they were taking every precaution against kauri dieback.

Enviro message from Jure and Coco
Last week two of our Year 6 students spoke to the junior syndicate about keeping our environment clean. Both girls had spent several lunchtimes walking around the school picking up various items of rubbish. This concerned them so much that they took in on themselves to speak to the school about this to see if they could make a change. See their presentation below:
