Week 3 & 4.

Last week we were very busy cycling to gather water from our tank and water the gardens.  They are very dry.

We continued with our seed gathering and placed sheep pellets into the tree seedlings to fertilise them. 

There are so many bananas on our palm that we began to harvest them.  They were delicious.  We also found grapes to fill our platter also.

This week we made the bananas into banana smoothies and banana muffins.  Yum, yum.

First Enviro Lunchtime for 2020

Congratulations to Manuka and Rimu for a fantastic first Enviro lunchtime.  Our Komiti Kaitiaki students did us proud.  Today they ran several activities for the children within our school to participate in.  There were fun activities like the camouflage game down in our forest as well as several maintenance activities.  Here is just a wee snippet of  some of the maintenance activities:

Plastic in our compost

This week we looked through our compost before adding it to our garden.  We were horrified to find so much plastic in it.  Lots of the little plastic stickers on our apples and other fruit don't decompose.  Please take them off your fruit at home before bringing your fruit to school.

Lunchtime activities

Every Wednesday the KKKids run activities for students to participate in.  The activities range form maintenance activities such as weeding, and sustainability activities like making paper bricks to sell or catching flies for Tane,  to fun activities like building huts.  Students from New Entrance up come along and choose activities for the lunchtime.  Take a look at some of the fun things they do below.
